The goal of the Pavilion Cup event is to fund various charitable programs in Rockwood Park during the 2012 and 2013 year.
Last year, through the generous support of our many sponsors, we were able to allocate proceeds to offer 300 children from the Greater Saint John area a week-long camp experience - at no cost to them. See below for a few of the pictures of our campers! We were also able to host a free movie night in the park at the Lily Lake Pavilion in the summer months. Hundreds of local residents enjoyed a free movie under the stars each week throughout the summer.
For 2013, the Board of Directors of Lily Lake Pavlion Inc. have approved the following charitable endeavours for funds raised through the 2013 Pavilion Cup:
Day Camp for local children - "Camp Awesome" to be held in Rockwood Park during the summer of 2013. Proceeds realized will be allocated to the various needs of the camp program including registration fees, lunch program, facility requirements, safety requirements, transportation, and equipment rentals.
We will again be working closely with other non-profit children’s programs to identify potential campers for the program.
Movie Night in the Park - this will free be a weekly event to be held during the summer months in Rockwood Park on an outdoor movie screen on the hill next to the Pavilion. Movies are often too expensive for many families and this will be an excellent opportunity for everyone from the Community to come out for a newly released movie and some fresh popcorn. Proceeds realized will be allocated to the operational costs associated with payment of royalties, providing refreshments, facility requirements, and safety supervision.
Programs for Persons with Disabilities - the recent completion of Phase 1 of the reconstruction of Rockwood Park has made the Pavilion - and the Park - more accessible for those persons with disabilities. We are currently in the process of determining what programs would be desirable and will provide further details as they are finalized.
